On May 21, 24, 27 and 30 and on June 2, 2018 at 20.30h the performances of ‘Adriana Lecouvreur’ will take place at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.

Adriana Lecouvreur is an opera in four acts based on the theatrical work of Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé with music by Francesco Cilea and libretto by Arturo Colautti. The work premiered on November 6, 1902 at the Teatro Lírico in Milan.

 

PREMIERE AT THE TEATRO DE LA MAESTRANZA.

The opera which premieres for the first time in this theater closes the lyrical cycle of the 2017-2018 season at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.

The story develops the events that led to the tragic death in strange circumstances of the actress Adriana Lecouvreur in 1730. According to suspicions, the actress died suddenly after smelling a bouquet of poisoned violets that sent another jealous actress apparently because both were in love of Maurizio, pretender to the throne of Poland. In the opera this jealous actress is replaced by the Princess de Bouillon.

This version is produced by Lorenzo Mariani and directed by Pedro Halffter at the head of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville and the choir of the ‘Friends of the Maestranza Theater’ Association. In the main roles we find Ainhoa ​​Arteta as Adriana Lecouvreur, Teodor Ilincai as Maurizio, Luis Cansino as Michonnet or Ksenia Dudnikova as the Princess of Bouillon.
