The Sin allowed in Seville from past centuries.
The protistución in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Seville, was an accepted sin, but was limited to a few areas of the city and especially guarded by the civil and ecclesiastical authorities of the time, lest perpurbara public order.
The denominas brothels, were far from the city center, close to port, which is now the district of Arenal.
Regulation of the activity
In May 1553, the Sevillian authorities drafted an ordinance on the issue and on which forbade the existence of bars in the brothel, fixed rest days which should coincide with religious festivals. The normative Felipe II exported to the rest of the kingdom in 1570.
