The Real Alcázar of Seville presents once again its dramatized night visits that during this and next year will be dedicated to Magellan.

With these visits, the Alcázar (World Heritage by Unesco) joins the official program for the commemoration of the V Centenary of the First Circumnavigation to Earth.

The visits will be represented, as every year, by the Classic Theater Company of Seville, under the direction of Juan Motilla and Noelia Diez. Alfonso Zurro is the author of the text and the director of the stage direction.

Representations.

Every Thursday and Friday (also Saturdays in July and August), from May 16 to October 31, scenes from the life of Ferdinand Magellan are represented in the Alcázar of Seville.

Magellan was a Portuguese military, explorer and navigator, named Adelantado by the Spanish monarchy, Captain General of the Navy as well as Commander of the Order of Santiago.

Magellan lived in the Alcázar from the end of September 1517 until August 10, 1519. It was Diego Barbosa, his family and Commander of the Order of Santiago, who gave accommodation to Ferdinand Magellan, who in turn married Beatriz, the youngest daughter of Diego Barbosa.

These two years were decisive for the fate of Magellan who from the Alcázar poses, organizes and launches the expedition to the Maluku Islands.

However, after his death, it is Juan Sebastián Elcano who manages to complete the trip, arriving in the Maluku Islands at the end of 1521. He returned to Spain from the islands in 1522 after going around the world sailing always to the west, crossing the territories dominated by Portugal.

During the tour to the gardens and palaces, architectural and decorative elements will be illuminated with games of light that will set the scenes with their reflections, as well as a dance and other audiovisual show in the baths of Doña María de Padilla where scenes will be projected on their walls, arcs and water.

The night tour will run through Puerta del León, Patio del León, Patio del Yeso, Sala de la Justicia, Patio de Montería, fachada del Palacio del Rey Don Pedro, Cuarto del Almirante, Sala de Audiencia, Patio de las Muñecas, Salón de Embajadores, Patio de las Doncellas, jardines históricos, Baños de Doña María de Padilla and salones Gótico and de Tapices.
