The Real Alcázar of Seville presents once again its dramatized night visits that this year will be dedicated to Bartolomé Esteban Murillo.
With them, the Alcázar (World Heritage by Unesco) joins the official program for the commemoration of the IV Centenary of the birth of the painter. These visits will be represented by the Classic Theater Company of Seville as every year.
Although the painter did not make any paintings for the Alcázar his works are closely related to the Palace and in it the painting 'San Francisco Solano y el toro' is currently preserved.
Every Thursday and Friday from March 1 to October 26, scenes of the life of Murillo are represented in the Patio de la Montería as well as others scenes after his death which related to Seville and his works.
The performance begins in 1633 when the young Bartolomé Esteban Murillo aged 15 is denied the license request to go to America with some relatives.
The characters that accompany Murillo in these performances will be Silvestre Galán and Leandra de Salvia (actors of the ‘Corral de Comedias de la Montería’), the Duchess of Arcos (lady in waiting of the Queen), Queen Isabel de Farnesio (wife of King Felipe V), the musician Pablos de Marchena, the dancer Julianita "La Tormentas", the Marchioness of Villanueva, Pablo de Olavide (royal assistant in Seville), and the Italian dancer Marcella Perinnia.
During the tour by the gardens and palaces, architectural and decorative elements will be illuminated with games of light that will set the scenes with their reflections as well as an audiovisual show in will take place in the Baths of Doña María de Padilla where paintings and characters from the paintings of Murillo will be screened on its walls, arches and water.
The visits began on March 1 and will end on October 26, with four weekly passes of 75 minutes each, two on Thursdays and two on Fridays.
Access will be through Puerta del León where it is essential to be ten minutes before the start of the visit.
Tickets can be purchased on the official website of the Real Alcázar at a single price of € 14.00:
