As every year, Virgen de los Reyes will procession through the streets of Seville on August 15 to celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin.
About Virgen de los Reyes there are several legends, among them, which tells that she accompanied King San Fernando in the reconquest of Seville, appearing in his dreams.
ITINERARY
Early in the morning, more specifically at 05:30, the activity in the Cathedral will begin. Many early risers go to mass and see the most important procession in Seville.
The procession begins to leave through Puerta de los Palos at 07:40 formed by religious, municipal, civil and military authorities who will accompany Virgen de los Reyes on her itinerary. The Virgin is in the doorpost at eight o’clock when is time to pray the prayer of the three graces.
The Virgin takes a two hours tour that surrounds the Cathedral accompanied by music and under the impressive ringing of bells of the Giralda.
Entourage: Holy Cross preceded by the municipal band, Association of Faithful of Nuestra Señora de los Reyes and San Fernando, Sacramental Brotherhood of the Tabernacle; Chapel music, Clergy and the Council of the Cathedral, Nuestra Señora de los Reyes under her canopy, priest and sacred ministers, musical corporation, Government delegate and military honor company.
Itinerary: Puerta de los Palos, Placentines, Alemanes, Avenida de la Constitución, Fray Ceferino González, Plaza del Triunfo, Plaza Virgen de los Reyes and Puerta de los Palos.
At the end of the procession, the archbishop will preside over the seasonal mass in front of the canopy of the Virgin that will be located in the Altar of the Jubilee.
Although for Sevillians the 15th of August is an important date, the events take place from the 6th to the 15th of the same month.
