On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd December, the show “Carmina Burana by La Fura dels Baus” will be performed in the auditorium of the Exhibitions and Congresses Center of Seville (FIBES).
The show lands in Seville after traveling through 10 countries between Europe, Asia and America and being seen by more than 200,000 spectators.
Released in 2009, the show features live music, an impressive mise-en-scène that mixes images projected onto a large cylinder ten meters in diameter that envelops the Orchestra, special effects, spring fragrances and more than 30 artists.
Scenic Cantata
Carmina Burana is a twentieth-century scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff between 1935 and 1936. It was premiered on June 8, 1937 at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main conducted by Oskar Wälterlin.
The text comes from the goliards songs of the 12th and 13th centuries captured in a manuscript found in a Benedictine monastery in 1803 by Johann Christoph von Aretin in the Abbey of Benediktbeuern, in Bavaria, and which is currently preserved in the State Library of Bavaria in Munich.
The show, which is more than an hour long, is divided into four parts: Fortune, Spring, Tavern and Love.
The assembly is in charge of the Catalan company ‘La Fura dels Baus’, while Carlus Padrissa is responsible for the stage direction, dramaturgy and set design. It features music by Carl Orff and musical direction by César Belda. It stars the soprano Amparo Navarro, the baritone Antonio Torres, the countertenor Lluis Frigola and the actress Luca Espinosa.
