British pianist James Rhodes will perform on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Cartuja Center Cite in Seville starting at 8:30 p.m.
BIOGRAPHY
James Rhodes was born in London in 1975. He had been taking piano lessons for a few years but he learned mainly through self-teaching. He was 13 years old when he entered the boarding school of Harrow School and he began to study piano in a supervised manner. During this period he would participate in the television program BBC Young Musician of the Year. In 1993 he was awarded a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and in 2009 he released his first album “Razor Blades, Little Pills and Big Pianos”.
To date, the pianist has published 7 albums. The last one was released in January of this year and has the title “Fire On All Sides” which according to the words of the pianist is the soundtrack of the instrumental book that he published in November of 2017 with the same name.
He is currently one of the main divulgatives of classical music and a prestigious columnist in ‘The Guardian’ as well as a great activist against child rape, mental illness or suicide, offering TED talks and lectures at events of ‘Save the Children’, due to the sexual abuse suffered during his childhood by his teacher and the emotional aftermath caused to him.

James Rhodes has become one of the most popular pianists thanks to his ability to renew classical music and his capacity to thrill the public that listens. His characteristic way of interpreting music, his ‘casual’ clothing and his ‘stand up’ style breaks the classic stereotypes and bring it closer to the public.
The pianist offers a reinterpretation of the classics, interacting with the audience during breaks, in which he talks about the pieces he plays, the reasons why he has chosen to interpret them, the importance they have for him and the context in which they were composed. .
Fire On All Sides – Tour narrates the feelings of anger, hatred, love… that accompanied him during the concerts of his 2016 tour and how music has helped him overcome the numerous obstacles he has encountered along the way.
