The Symposium on Seville at the time of Velazquez will be held in Seville from 15 to 17 October in the Town Hall, as well as different sessions that will take place in the convent of Santa Clara.
The Symposium, will analyse the culture and intellectual circles, the formation of the painter, as well as works and pictorial technique.
Xavier Salomón, possessory Chief of the Frick Collection in New York, will begin with the opening Conference. And it will have some words from the American Jonathan Brown, an expert on Velazquez.

It will also feature the collaboration and presence of experts from the University of Seville, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universidad Complutense, Royal Academy of fine arts of San Fernando, Trinity College Dublin, University of Sorbonne, University of Notthingam, Milwaukee University, Wildenstein Institute in Paris, The Morgan Library in New York, The Detroit Institute of ArtsDulwich Picture Gallery, the Louvre, the Prado Museum and the Yale University Art Gallery.
