On June 13 and 14, 2018, the opera ‘Carmen’ is performed at the Maestranza Theater in Seville by the Ballet of Victor Ullate.

The Víctor Ullate Ballet will represent through dance one of the most passionate stories and represented all over the world. The ‘Carmen’ that premiered in Paris on March 3, 1875, now surprises us with a much more modern and transgressive version.

A REINVENTED “CARMEN”.

The story of Carmen has been rewritten to make it timeless far from the original which was full of topics and customs. For Victor Ullate it represents “the reflection of the liberation of the human being”.

In this new work we move away from the original story of the cigar maker and the bullfighter because Carmen is a model her friends are transvestites and her lover José is the police chief.

Manuel Coves directs the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra (ROSS) that will perform live the score composed by Pedro Navarrete on Bizet’s music. The artistic direction is in charge of Eduardo Lao, the costumes have been designed by Anna Güell with the collaboration of Lorenzo Caprile and the scenography is signed by Paco Azorín.

Performances will take place on June 13 and 14, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.generaltickets.com and associated entities. The price varies between 28 and 50 euros.
