VII International Mehuer Congress and Rare DiseasesThe VII International Congress on Rare Diseases and Orphan Medicinal Products held in Seville on 12, 13 and 14 February.

The Mehuer (Orphan Medicinal Products for its acronym in Spanish) Foundation intends to conduct an international conference to raise awareness to the global population of the needs that exist today to treat patients with rare diseases.

To understand better the term, orphan medicinal products; are the medicines designed to treat rare diseases, which are lightly exploited by the pharmaceutical industry since there is no a great interest from them for processing, since there is no a large number of plaintiffs on these drugs.

On the other hand, rare diseases are those that affect a limited number of persons with respect to the general population; Very often we associate a rare diseases and orphan medicinal products which are intimately linked; as an orphan medicinal product is developed to attack or take into treatment to a person with a rare disease.

The objectives traced in this international Mehuer congress are certainly to inform and make social awareness of rare diseases, publicize through conferences, seminars and congress about the need to label such diseases as public health problem; Besides this, the promotion of research on the treatment of rare diseases, the integration of people suffering from rare diseases in society, as well as the families involved and in a manner that is deemed by the drug industry the development of more medicines for the cure and treatment of those affected.

This international congress of the Mehuer foundation, wants and needs the support and solidarity of all citizens either through help or donations and volunteers to provide a better quality of life for patients with rare diseases.
